Site Improvements
The systems that feed your home.
Water source
In our case, we had a problem. We had to flow test the well proving that it had adequate water supply. Then we had to test for the quality of the water to prove that it was potable water. Our results came back less than desirable and legally not a potable water source.
Next step will either have to look into filtration or consider a new deeper well in hopes of finding potable water source.
Power
Lucky for us, we have a power transformer on the corner of the property. So we are good to go. If not the case, we would have to contact the local power provider and figure out what it takes to get power to your site.
Telecommunications
Phone, Internet and cable TV, things you might not want to live without even if living on and island. We were able to confirm the availability near our site prior to purchasing the land.
On site sewer system
On Orcas Island there is no sewer system in the rural areas. That means you need to treat and disperse all of the sewage on the site. A septic system, and in our case AdvanTex is the way to go.
