Who We Are

Some years ago… and winter 2021

We are a family who is trying to avoid routine. Living in Bellevue, WA has been a privilege and a great lifestyle, but it doesn’t even matter where you live, you always end up in some kind of a rat race. Work, school, team sports, athletic club, same route to grocery store, same, same, same…

Life is too short to live the same. Life is all about change. Constant change and adaptation is the only constant in life. It is about the new and unknown and it is about exploring new ways of living that will only enrich your life and add a sense of quality and brings brighter memories.

We are a family of five. Three elementary school children and a 15 year old dog.

While sitting in our back yard of our Bellevue residence in the time of Covid-19 we randomly thought of - how fun would it be to live on one of the San Juan islands, how we’d like to have a bigger back yard and access to water, beaches, forests and trails, how fun would it be to jump in a boat and go island hopping, fishing in the afternoon or paddle board in the early am. And so, in that very moment we decided to check out the available land, and that very weekend we were off to a ferry, meeting our realtor (Deborah Hansen) and scoping out the right piece of land.

Within the next couple of weeks we had found the right property on Orcas Island. Population five thousand, and double the size in summer time. About 3h trip by ferry + car to the big city and way less on a sea plane.

We have a construction company West Corp Construction that has extensive experience building quality homes and we have a good friend and architect Todd Smith with Syndicate Smith who we have worked successfully on several projects in the past.

The journey of our new HOME has begun!

The goal is to have this home complete by the next school year 2021!

With sharing our experience in building homes, we decided to create this platform to share a step by step journaling of building our dream home. We are living, working and spending more and more time from our homes, it is becoming more important to create a space we really feel conformable, that fits our lifestyle and inspires us be your best every day we wake up. There is a special feel about living in a space you created yourself.

We are in the process of building our new home on Orcas Island.

Building our home starts with:

Finding the right land. Designing it. Organize the site improvements. Permitting… and building it! We will also share the interior design ideas and landscaping.

We will be updating the site as we go and share as much honest experience as we can. Hope this will brings you some inspiration for your own dream home.
